Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right place for this thread but I'm new to Ubuntu and I have a problem which isn't really addressed by the documentation.
I have installed Ubuntu successfully on 2 machines; 1 as the only OS and the other (my own personal machine) as a dual boot with Windows XP. These work flawlessly and I championed the OS to my friends & family.
Then my Dad installed it the same way I did using my disc. He installed through Windows but onto a removable drive. He was getting into it and began to realise that using an OS via an external USB drive isn't fast enough so he elected to uninstall it from within Windows to install it onto an internal HDD.
However, the Windows Uninstaller doesn't work. And to check to see if it is was bad install or not, I tried on mine and guess what? It doesn't work either. What do we do? The only option left would be to completely format the machine, losing the Windows setup in the process which he is loathe to do. And there is also the issue with the Grub loader which is seriously destructive if something goes wrong (almost lost a Compaq restore partition because of it).
Any advice?
Thanks in advance.
